Mobile Technology Passive Optical Network Request for Information (RFI)
U.S. Customs and Border Protection is conducting market research for a managed Mobile Technology Passive Optical Network (MTPON) service to provide secure, high-bandwidth communications along the U.S. southern and northern borders. The service must integrate with existing Linear Ground Detection System fiber optic cables, deliver continuous WiFi coverage over distances up to five miles, and operate in extreme environmental conditions. A key requirement is achieving full operational capability no later than September 2026. The solution must be provided as a managed service, with the vendor responsible for all hardware, software, maintenance, and security compliance. This is solely a Request for Information for planning purposes and does not constitute a commitment to issue a future solicitation.
