NCFI Expansion Furniture
DHS’s U.S. Secret Service, Office of Procurement, awarded a GSA Multiple Award Schedule delivery order to Business Interiors, Inc. for furniture, design, freight, and installation supporting the National Computer Forensics Institute’s facility expansion in Hoover, Alabama. The scope includes furnishings for administrative offices, classrooms, auditorium and lobby areas, food-service space, and conference rooms, with items such as workstations, desks, chairs, collaborative seating, classroom electrostatic-dissipating desks, booths, couches, and conference-room furniture. The award was made on a limited-sources basis under FAR 8.4, Only One Source (except brand name), because Business Interiors was the only source capable of providing the required furnishings and services at the required quality. Business Interiors was already integrated with the City of Hoover’s concurrent NCFI expansion project, and its layouts, approved product configurations, infrastructure coordination, and installation sequencing were necessary for compatibility with architectural plans, fixed furniture, power/data connections, construction schedule, and installation activities. Using another vendor would have required duplicative site surveys, design and engineering coordination, product matching, and separate delivery and installation planning, increasing cost, schedule delay, and integration risk; a redacted justification provides the supporting rationale.
