All information regarding the material composition, mechanical requirements and specific testing procedures are all listed within the MIL-S- 23284 Specification (series). Specifics of the material shall adhere to all requirements set forth for Class 1 material. Specific Requirements of Forging are: • Final, “Rough Machined”, Dimensions of 21”Dia x 36”Long, solid, not drilled through, all machined surfaces provided with a finish of 250Ra • 2 holes, one centered on each end, and drilled 3-5/8 inches deep and tapped with 2” - 4-½ UNC 3 threads for full depth of hole(s). • Material Requirements: o MIL-S-23284 Class 1, o First article inspection required. o Transverse mechanical and impact properties are required. o Repair welding is not permitted.
