SCOPE OF WORK 1.1 Intent. This work item describes the requirements for the Contractor to remove the existing shell and tube type cooler from the steam return system and to install a plate type heat exchanger in its place. 1.2 Government-furnished property. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 General. 3.1.1 CIR. None. 3.1.2 Tech Rep. Not applicable. 3.1.3 Protective measures. The Contractor shall furnish and install suitable covering to seal off and protect all non-affected surfaces/equipment and spaces in the vicinity of the work area against contamination during the performance of work. Upon completion of work, remove protective material and inspect for the presence of contamination. Clean all equipment and spaces, contaminated due to improper protection, to original condition of cleanliness. 3.1.4 Interferences. The Contractor shall handle all interferences in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 0000, paragraph 3.3.5 (Interferences). Known interferences include, but are not limited to the below-listed: •· Sheathing •· Bulkhead insulation A-Team Note: Determine if the Hot Water Tank needs to be moved to perform this work. 3.2 General Information. The Coast Guard is going to replace the existing condensate cooler with a new plate type heat exchanger. Information on the Plate Type Heat Exchanger is listed below: Plate Type Heat Exchanger Mfr: Dover Company Model Name: Super Changer Model No.: UXP-005-M-6-UJ-12 MAWP: 150 psig @ 300 deg. F Net Wt: 149 lbs. Drawing No.: D-6-102448 Test Pressure: 195 3.3 Visual Survey. The Contractor shall perform the following work: 3.3.1 With the aid of ship's force, identify the location of the condensate cooler, shown on Detail 3-7C of CG Dwg 378 FRAM W 534-1. 3.3.2 Accompanied by the Coast Guard Inspector, inspect the area above the condensate tank in the aft starboard corner of the engine room upper level. Identify a location for the new condensate cooler. 3.4 Bilge cleaning and hotwork. The Contractor shall perform the following work: 3.4.1 Clean engine room bilges in way of the new condensate cooler installation to allow gas free certification and hot work. 3.2.4 Conduct all hotwork in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 074. All welds shall be continuous, 100% efficient welds. 3.5 Condensate Cooler Renewal. The Contractor shall perform the following work: 3.5.1 Disconnect the existing condensate cooler shown on Sheet 3 of CG Dwg 378 FRAM W 534-1. Remove the cooler and turn it over to the Coast Guard Inspector for disposition. 3.5.2 Receive the new GFM Plate Type Heat Exchanger. Transport the heat exchanger to the contractor's facility and pressure test the heat exchanger to the pressures listed on the label plate on the heat exchanger. Return the heat exchanger to the ship. 3.5.3 Fabricate and install a foundation for the new plate type heat exchanger in the location identified above. 3.5.4 Install the new GFM Plate Type Heat Exchanger onto the foundation. 3.5.4 Modify steam drain piping and condensate piping and salt water cooling supply and discharge piping to the new condensate cooler. Information on piping may be found in CG Dwg 378 FRAM W 534-1 and CG Dwg 378 W 256-1. For bidding purposes, assume 10 lin. ft. of piping for each of the four services (a total of forty (40) lin. ft. of piping) and one isolation valve for each of the four services (four (4) valves) will be required to be cropped out. Provide and install new isolation valves and new piping for each location. Relocate the temperature regulating valve in the cooler salt water discharge line to a new location nearer the new heat exchanger. All materials are to match those in the referenced drawings. Use new gaskets at each flange connection. 3.6 Inspections. The Contractor shall perform the following work: 3.6.1 In the presence of the Coast Guard Inspector, visually inspect the restored piping. 3.6.2 Conduct an operational test of the system to ensure that all flange connections are tight and that the heat exchanger is functioning properly. Conduct the operational test in the presence of the Coast Guard Inspector. 3.6.2.1 No hydrostatic testing of the new piping is required. Operationally test only. 3.7 Upon completion of system inspection, insulate all of the new piping as described in CG Dwg 378 FRAM W 508-1. Coat the new insulation in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 6310. 3.8 Touch-up preservation. The Contractor shall prepare and coat all new and disturbed exterior and interior surfaces to match existing adjacent surfaces, in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 6310, Appendix A (Cutter and Boat Exterior Painting Systems) and Appendix B (Cutter and Boat Interior Painting Systems), respectively, and as applicable. Abide by all touch-up requirements outlined in SFLC Std Spec 0000, Appendix A (Requirements for Preservation of Ship Structures). 3.8.1 Restore all interferences to their original condition in accordance with the General Requirements.
