This sources sought synopsis does not constitute a request for proposal, request for quote, invitation for bid, nor does its issuance in any way restrict the Government as to its ultimate acquisition approach. The United States Coast Guard (USCG) is conducting market research to seek sources and to gain knowledge of available production facilities that may be of interest to the USCG. The purpose of this sources sought is to gain knowledge of commercially available services that may be of interest to the USCG. The USCG is looking for companies capable of providing Plating and Metal Finishing Services to include: Anodizing, includes types 1, 2, & 3 all classes, Copper Plating/Copper Flash Nickel Plating, Phosphate Coating, Zinc Plating, Cadmium Plating, Metal Stripping to Remove Cadmium, Silver Plating, Black Oxide Coating, Chemical Conversion Coating, Passivation, Baking Services, Etching Services, Bead Blasting Services and Powder Coating Services of non-Flight Safety Critical Aircraft Parts (FSCAP) used on multiple Government platforms as well as non-aircraft support equipment on a routine weekly and three (3) hour turnaround rush schedule. Specific processes and references are listed below. • Anodizing, includes types 1, 2, & 3 and all classes IAW MIL-A-8625 • Copper Plating/Copper Flash IAW SAE AMS-2418H • Nickel Plating IAW AMS-2404 • Phosphate Coating IAW MIL-P-16232 • Zinc Plating IAW ASTM-B633 • Cadmium Plating IAW SAE-AMS-QQ-P-416 • Metal Stripping to Remove Cadmium IAW ALC IOD 7 • Silver Plating IAW ASTM-B700 • Black Oxide Coating IAW MIL-C-13924D • Chemical Conversion Coating IAW MIL-C-5541F • Passivation IAW ASTM A 967-96 • Baking Services IAW ALC IOD 7 • Etching Services IAW ASTM E340-13. • Bead Blasting Services IAW ALC IOD 7 • Powder Coating IAW MIL-PRF-24712B The proposed North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for the future acquisition is 332813, Electroplating, Plating, Polishing, Anodizing, and Coloring . The size of business pursuant to NAICS is 500 employees. SOURCES SOUGHT RESPONSES: Responses to this notice should include Company Name, Address, Telephone Number, Point of Contact (POC), and Cage Code. All Contractors, qualified to provide Plating and Metal Finishing Services, should submit a response presenting sufficient information to substantiate that: 1) The Contractor has Plating and Metal Finishing Services that meets or exceeds specifications referenced on the preceding page. 2) Is the Contractor's facility is located within a three (3) to four (4) hour driving distance from Elizabeth City, NC? 3) Does the Contracting Company have a GSA schedule, if so what schedule number? 4) Can the Contractor provide same day services (3-hour turnaround)? 5) Provide any additional comments/information you may have regarding this sources sought notice. After the review of the responses to this sources sought announcement, and if the USCG still plans to proceed with the acquisition, a solicitation announcement will be published on the Federal Business Opportunity (FBO) website. Responses to this sources sought synopsis are not adequate response to any future solicitation announcement. All interested offerors will have to respond to the solicitation in addition to responding to this sources sought synopsis. Responses to this sources sought synopsis are NOT a request to be added to a prospective offerors list or to receive a copy of the solicitation.
