The requirement is to provide the USCG with the capability to perform all 11 statutory missions, including law enforcement (LE), search and rescue (SAR), aids to navigation (ATON), investigations, civil engineering inspections, pre/post storm assessments, training, and any other mission that requires overhead, high-definition day or infrared imagery. Skydio X10D’s unique non-GPS collision avoidance system makes it ideal for close proximity mission sets and the enhance performance for sensor capability and battery technology is substantial improvement from the prior model. Further, this system has incorporated a hot-key that allows for momentary disabling of obstacle avoidance, which allows for shipboard dynamic launch and recovery. The system’s collision avoidance system also postures the device to operate beyond visual line of sight if the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approves that paradigm in the future. Further, Skydio X10D offers a secure network for live audio/video transmission.
