In its 2018-2022 strategic plan, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) identifies closing the insurance gap-the difference between what is insured and what is insurable-as an objective. In support of this objective, the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate (DHS S&T) is seeking information on current products and practices for insuring public buildings and buildings owned by nonprofit organizations against natural hazards (wind, flood, earthquake, wildfire, landslides, hail, etc.). Specifically, through this RFI, DHS S&T is seeking information on 1) the insurance and risk management practices that state, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) governments and private nonprofit organizations (PNP) employ for buildings; and 2) the insurance products and financial risk management products that are available to them from insurance providers or brokers and 3) strategies for increasing the adoption of insurance for public buildings. The target audience for this information is FEMA, emergency management agencies, non-profit organizations, government administrative agencies and their purchasing agents. See attachment for details. Responses to this RFI must be submitted via email to Dr. David Alexander at David.Alexander1@hq.dhs.gov not later than 4:00 PM EST, August 30, 2019. All questions, comments, inquiries and responses should be directed to David Alexander.
