The Contractor shall consistently provide qualified sign language interpreters who can interpret in the appropriate modality to fit the need of the recipient of the vaccine. The contractor shall ensure all necessary COVID Vaccine information is accessible to those who are Deaf or hard of hearing and use American Sign Language as their primary mode of communication. It is important to emphasize that emergency management and medical services are a high stake, high consequences environment and as such, it is therefore paramount to assign qualified sign language interpreters who understand government/emergency management/medical terminology in order to best support the recipient’s needs. Contractor shall provide qualified interpreters on demand due to pandemic restrictions. The platform, a VP 800# used for on demand remote interpretation will not be provided by the Agency and must be an established by the Contractor. FEMA has permission to deliver appropriate messaging and will make this information available in all 50 states, territories (if vendor is capable) and tribes. Interpreters shall not provide any medical advice or personal opinions on the vaccine.
