Covaris is the leading source for focused ultrasonification technology for extracting high quality DNA/RNA, which is critical to the DNA Core Lab’s mission at the NIEHS. The DNA Core Lab requires a Covaris R230 focused-ultrasonicator and accessories to be used as the new generation FFPE DNA/RNA extraction kit to yield high quality DNA/RNA that can be used in downstream application such as NGS. This specific equipment allows for NGS library construction to be done directly on plate after extraction. In addition, the R230can be converted to fully automate FFPE extraction and purification, without the need to upgrade in the future. The DNA Core Lab has extracted DNA/RNA in their current studies using Covaris equipment. In order to maintain consistency in results, it is necessary to use the same technology to avoid unfavorable results. The applicable North American industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 335999 and the business size standard is 500. NIEHS will solicit and negotiate directly with Covaris Inc., and no solicitation will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals or quotations; however, all responsible sources may submit a bid, proposal, or quotation which shall be considered by the agency. Offerors must have an active registration in the System for Award Management (SAM) www.sam.gov. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Interested parties must express their interest and must be submitted in writing via email to Valarie K. Sims at sims3@niehs.nih.gov and are due by 10:00 AM, August 2, 2022. No faxed documents will be accepted. If no responsive statements are received by the due date, an award will be made to Covaris, Inc.
