This contract action is for the acquisition of supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1). The National Institute of Environmental Health Science (NIEHS), Office of Acquisitions (OA) intends to award a single source purchase order to 10X Genomics, Inc., 6230 Stoneridge Mall Road, Pleasanton, California 94588-3260. The 10X Genomics Chromium Next GEM Single Cell 5’ Library and Gel Bead Kit (reagents) is needed to carry out 16 single cell isolated blood tissue experiments on the 10X Genomics Chromium Controller., located at the NIEHS Institutes of Environmental Health Sciences, in the Epigenomics and DNA Sequencing Core Laboratory. The 10X Genomics Chromium Controller is a highly specialized and unique instrument which provides the exclusively licensed proprietary reagents that are compatible with the 10X Genomics Chromium Next GEM Single Cell 5’ Library and Gel Bead Kit. No alternative reagents can be used with the existing instrumental platform, due to the unique technology used in these instruments. The use of the 10X Genomics platform is required to assure continuity of research within the labs in which considerable amounts of data have already been accumulated using 10X Genomics sequencing. Ordering from another source would compromise experiments and compromise the integrity of data.
