The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 became Public Law No: 116-260 on December 27, 2020. Two acts within the law apply to The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO): Division BB, Title I, "No Surprises Act." and Title II, "Transparency." In accordance with Titles I & II of the Act, the contractor shall conduct the Patient-Provider Arbitration process pursuant to the implementation of the No Surprises Act. In supporting this effort, the contractor will be required to perform all functions set forth in statute and regulation as a Selected Dispute Resolution Entity (SDRE) conducting arbitration between providers and uninsured (or self-pay) patients.
