The FDA Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) has a Bruker 400 MHz instrument. The Bruker 400 MHz NMR spectrometer is the widely used and accepted platform for analytical NMR screening methods including site-specific nuclear isotope fractionation by NMR (SNIF-NMR), screening of honey, juices and other food commodities, and chemical contaminant testing by NMR. The NMR spectrometer needs an automatic sample changer and automatic probe to enable running long experiments overnight and over weekends. This is required for several analytical screening methods that are being tested and developed in Office of Regulatory Science (ORS).
