The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Fischer Scientfic is to provide Sorval Centrifuge for the centrifuge and rotors speed and volume capacity are required to perform CDC mission related laboratory work with broth cultures of bacteria and isolations of DNA, RNA, proteins, lipids, or other cell components. The vendor offers the Sorvall LYNX 4000 superspeed centrifuge has a refrigerating capacity which is important to preserve viability of the cells and integrity of individual cell components. Depending on the rotor (with the rotors that we are ordering), Sorvall LYNX 4000 Superspeed centrifuge has 30,000g max speed and 6x250ml max volume capacity. Eppendorf refrigerated tabletop centrifuges are usually a good source of smaller and affordable centrifuges, but they provide lower speeds and accommodate lesser volumes: model Rev. 1/6/14 5418 R – up to 16,873g speed and 18x2ml max volume; model 5810 R – max of 16,639g and 6x50ml max volume for the rotor FA-45-6-30 which is the most similar to what we are comparing with the Sorvall centrifuge.. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within fifteen (15) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
