These products are used to inventory all CDC IT systems and is used for for the Security Assessment and Authorization (SA&A) process. CDC uses these proprietary tools to: (1) ensure the information systems comply with federal, HHS and CDC requirements; (2) run systems in a safe and secure mode, posing little to no threat to the CDC operating environment; (3) operate systems under appropriate management review; (4) sustain ongoing information security control compliance; and (5) reauthorize at least every 3 years or when there is a significant change to the system or its environment. This tool is also used to respond to Congressional data requests and inquiries in addition to department data requests regarding CDC IT system specifications.
