This is a Notice of Intent, not a request for proposal. The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to negotiate on an other than full and open competition basis With COSMOSID, Inc to procure 20M read shotgun sequencing & taxonomic profiling for a total qty: 148. The NIH is conducting an investigation on the role of the skin microbiome on atopic disease for the goal of utilizing microbiome intervention to mitigate chronic inflammatory disease. This shotgun sequencing and taxonomic profiling are required to be conducted on skin specimens to investigate the role of the skin microbiome on atopic disease. • This requirement has been determined to be a Follow-On procurement requirement to a previous or initial order, under project ID # CP04262 COSMOSID Inc, 1600 East Gude Drive, Rockville, MD 20850 have successfully completed the previous work. This requirement is to conduct further findings by using the same samples currently housed at COSMOSID to gain further knowledge from these samples. The next step is to have the actual sequencing done, 20M Shotgun Sequencing & Taxonomic Profiling. As they currently have the swab skin specimens, we are requesting to continue to utilize COSMOS, Inc for the sequencing needed to complete the goals of the project as to not sway, invalidate, or compromise the data results by changing sources. These results and findings will be used for project ID # 153847 in-order to further the joint goals of the lab to investigate clinical microbiome interventions to mitigate chronic inflammatory disease. The statutory authority for this sole source requirement is 41 U.S.C. 1901 (a) (1) as implemented by FAR 13.106-1 only one responsible source and no other supply of service will satisfy agency requirements. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. All responsible sources that could provide comparable services may submit a capability statement that will be considered by email (subject line to reference NOI-NIAID-2114111 to Diana Rohlman, diana.rohlman@nih.gov by 11:00 am (EST) eastern standard time, Tuesday, February 15, 2022. All responses received by the closing date of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination not to compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government.
