On behalf of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) Proteomics Core Facility (PCF), the Office of Acquisitions Contracts Management Branch Red, NINDS Section of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), intends to solicit on a sole-source basis by issuing a request for quotation to Thermo Electron North America LLC (Thermo Electron). The vendor will provide a Thermo Fisher Scientific FAIMS Pro interface, which will be added to an existing Orbitrap Fusion Lumos Tribrid Mass Spectrometer, on or around December 10, 2021 and award will be issued on or around September 17, 2021. The purpose of this acquisition is to acquire a differential ion mobility interface for an existing Orbitrap Fusion Lumos Tribrid Mass Spectrometer. While the NINDS PCF considered alternative interfaces, only the FAIMS Pro interface is able to satisfy all of its requirements, including full compatibility with the existing Orbitrap Fusion Lumos Tribrid Mass Spectrometer. As Thermo Electron North America LLC (Thermo Electron) is the only vendor that provides the FAMIS Pro interface, the Government intends to acquire it through them on a sole source basis.
