This is a Notice of Intent, not a request for proposal. The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to negotiate on an other than full and open competition basis with Transnetyx Inc to purchase mouse genotyping services. These items are for a number of ongoing NIAID DIR projects. Multiple DIR laboratories breed transgenic mice and produce mouse samples that need to be tested regularly to determine proper genotype of the mice. Genotyping tests are needed regularly and accurately to ensure the new DNA is properly introduced to mice that are of importance for research of current infectious human diseases and various as animal models of human diseases. Transnetyx has existing TAGCenters found on the NIH Bethesda Campus with multiple drop boxes for sample collection and provides free weekly shipping. Using the existing automated TAGCenters allows for scheduled time for shipping and pickup time convenience for the Investigators for dropping off samples. Also, Transnetyx’s TAGCenters provides FedEx tracking time stamp tracking and audit trail in four labs with multiple shippers. Finally, Transnetyx provides a secured website to allow for the Investigators to login and access the rapidly processed and produced genotyping data securely and provides backup of all data collected. Because of the unique nature of the existing setup and the multiple locations of the TAGCenters around the Bethesda Campus no other company can provide this genotyping service with this level of rapidity and convenience at a lower cost for the DIR Investigators.
