The Veterinary Pathology Section (“VPS”) of the Rocky Mountain Veterinary Branch (RMVB) at the Rocky Mountain Laboratories (“RML”) (collectively referred to as “Program”) provides histopathology services to all laboratories at RML and collaborators associated with NIAID and NIH outside of RML. This request is on the behalf of the RMVB through the VPS for the purchase of the Leica Biosystems Bond RX, which is an immunohistochemistry and in-situ hybridization stainer that identifies specific markers (DNA, RNA, protein) in infectious disease models. This acquisition will directly benefit in answering biological questions and aid in understanding animal model pathogenesis. The addition of the Bond Rx ImmunoHistoChemistry/In Situ Hybridization staining platform will allow for advanced staining techniques which demonstrate genetic and antigenic sites within specific cellular populations. This knowledge allows for the elucidation of infectious disease pathogenesis. These cellular targets may define molecular pathways which can be explored as potential therapeutic treatment options. The Bond Rx can perform new assays which highlight multiple cellular target simultaneously. This acquisition will significantly add to our capability to advance our knowledge of animal models and human pathology, at the cellular level, in infectious disease research. It will be used extensively in the current ongoing COVID-19 research being performed at Rocky Mountain Laboratories. GSA eBuy Posting: RFQ1521748 Reference attached Limited Source Justification.
