The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to procure a MagPix Instrument. This product will allow us to detect multiple analytes without the use of lasers, which require more frequent and expensive calibration. We have purchased these instruments previously to develop a new incidence assay. The same instrument must be used in order to keep the data consistent and comparable to previous projects. We now need additional instruments to use exclusively in the field for assay validation and training. This instrument is needed to complete ongoing work in the DGHT/ILB serology and incidence laboratory. Luminex Corp is the sole distributor of MagPix products including the supporting software, monitor, keyboard, processor and proper installment of the machine. We propose to contract with Luminex Technologies, located at 12212 Technology Blvd. Austin, TX 78727, is identified as a vendor capable of providing the MagPtx needed. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-l(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(l). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within seven (7) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
