The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Empower RF Systems, Inc. for the Empower 2198 Wide Band Power Amplifier (RF) Amplifier. The Empower RF Model 2198 is a specialized solid-state tri-band amplifier used to boost (or amplify) low level radio frequency (RF) signals to high levels. These high-level RF signals are fed into a test chamber designed to submit handheld mining equipment to high levels of RF energy to determine their immunity to electromagnetic interference (EMI.) The Empower RF Model 2198’s functional parameters can be configured manual using a front panel interface or remotely through an Ethernet interface for automated operation and fault monitoring. The Empower 2198 Wide Band Power Amplifier is the only product identified that can meet the following required specifications: 1. Covers the frequency range of 30 MHz to 6 GHz 2. Capable of a specified minimum output power (PSat) of 80 watts from 20 MHz to 3 GHz and 35 watts from 3 GHz to 6 GHz. 3. Typical minimum output power (PSat) of 100 watts from 20 MHz to 3 GHz and 40 watts from 3 GHz to 6 GHz. 4. 49 dB of gain from 20 MHz to 3 GHz and 45 dB of gain from 3 GHz to 6 GHz requiring only -5 to +1 dBm to achieve spec’d output power levels 5. Internal gain adjustment 6. Internal output power leveling 7. Does not require water or oil cooling at maximum output power levels 8. Utilizes single RF amplifier, not a combination of two or more amplifiers requiring complex and expensive RF multiplexing equipment. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested parties may identify their interest and submit documentation of their capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all responses received within five (5) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any response should be emailed to EHamilton@cdc.gov by 11:00 AM on 25 May 2021
