This synopsis is hereby issued in accordance with FAR Part 5.203 and FAR 6.302-3(a)(2)(ii) in response to the mandatory requirement for a 15 day notification. The purpose of this synopsis is to announce the Food and Drug Administration's intent to negotiate a Firm Fixed Price sole source follow-on contract to an existing contract with Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital, located at 225 E. Chicago Ave., Chicago, Il. 60611. The current contract number is HHSF223201810051C, entitled “Comparative Safety of Complex Feeding Device Types Among NICU Graduates.” The Fixed Price follow on contract is necessary to complete the second half of the study. Therefore, in accordance with the authority of FAR 6.302-3(a)(2)(ii) and the application of FAR 6.302-3(b)(2)(i), it is necessary to award this follow on contract to Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital in order to “…maintain an essential…research…capability to be provided by an educational or other nonprofit institution…” and to “…maintain an essential capability for theoretical analyses, exploratory studies, or experiments in any field of science or technology.” The anticipated follow on contract’s period of performance is twelve (12) months following the award of this follow-on contract. The estimated total amount of this follow-on contract is $69,029.00
