POLITICO is a key media outlet that covers issues important to the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), including policies and regulations issued by the Center, and how those impact our external stakeholders including regulated industry, the U.S. Congress and other legislative bodies. The Communications and Public Engagement Staff (CPES) relies on access to Politico articles – available by subscription only – as one of the essential tools CPES use to maintain environmental awareness of how issues are covered through this outlet, and to inform and advise Center staff and leadership as we work with them to develop communication and public engagement strategies and messaging. CPES track clips that are relevant to the Center’s work and are frequently asked to provide the text of articles to Center leadership in order to develop responses to inquiries or proactive communications. In addition to access to all POLITICO subscription-based material, the POLITICO Pro platform brings together in-depth analysis, data and policy tools that are important to the staff in their policy-related communications and stakeholder engagement planning.
