Please see the attached solicitation for full details. Background The Southeast Food and Feed and laboratory is the largest ORA field laboratory with the mission to provide essential analytical services to assure the public safety in the areas of foods and animal feed. The SFFL has been accredited under ISO17025 for Chemical and Biological Testing since 2006. Our full-service facility is capable of performing the FDA high priority complete genome sequencing of human pathogenic, foodborne diseases causing bacteria, by using Illumina MiSeq genome sequencer. The Microbiological Sciences Branch is the largest of the three branches that comprise SFFL. The Microbiological Sciences Branch analyses over 3,000 regulatory samples a year which covers a broad spectrum of samples including food samples, cosmetics, animal foods, infant formula, pharmaceuticals, and environmental, surveillance, consumer complaint and outbreak samples. The Southeast Regional Lab is in need of a QIAcube Connect System to perform fully automated nucleic acid extraction of foodborne bacterial pathogens for analysis using Next Generation Whole Genome Sequencing by the Illumina MiSeq genome sequencer located in SFFL. The revolutionary QIAcube Connect makes automated sample prep possible. It included a built-in UV light for efficient full worktable decontamination. The decontamination feature aid in the avoiding the carryover of DNA between sample extractions. The plug-and-play instrument simplifies and streamlines your purification procedures by fully automating the trusted QIAGEN spin-column kits. The innovative QIAcube Connect enables you to free up your valuable time, continue to use proven QIAGEN spin-column kits, standardize your results and increase your productivity by eliminating the need of tedious manual steps. The innovative QIAcube Connect controls integrated components including a centrifuge, heated shaker, pipetting system and robotic gripper. This enables the QIAcube Connect to fully automate more than 80 QIAGEN spin column kits. The system also includes a table that allows for easier sample prep run preparation and provides a status update on the progress of run. In addition, the QIAcube Connect comes with a barcode scanner that allows you to access all the necessary sample prep kit information. The information will immediately appear on system screen. Purpose Our laboratory is in need of a New QIAcube Connect system as part of our WGS program requirement and to fulfill our WGS-based analysis workload. The exiting QIAcube system located in our laboratory is the first-generation system that has been sent for repair to the company in the past. Since, the repair cost(s) is costly, and unavailability of QIAcube can slow down and stop the capabilities our laboratory to perform whole genome sequencing of real-time official isolates in time. Requirements This requirement is being solicited in accordance with FAR 52.211-6, Brand Name or Equal. It is essential for SFFL to have the purchase QIAcube Connect System for performing “real-time” genome sequencing analysis of confirmed positive human-pathogenic foodborne or environmental Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella isolates ‘in-house’ at SRL. Technical Specifications: At a minimum, the QIAcube Connect shall meet or exceed following specifications: Fully automated nucleic acid extraction with QIAGEN’s spin-column kits Automates over 80 QIAGEN kits with over 140 standard protocols for the most frequently used applications Optional protocol customization expands the use to virtually any application Allows automated DNA, RNA and protein sample processing Eliminates manual processing steps Generates standardized results Enables quick response times and remote run monitoring through the provided tablet The instrument has an Altitude of Up to 2000 m (6500 ft).
