Sources Sought - WRSU - Transportation of Human Remains
The IHS White River Service Unit is conducting market research to identify ISBEEs capable of transporting human remains for autopsy, with performance in Arizona for the White River Service Unit; this notice is informational only and not a solicitation. The contractor would accept dispatch requests, pick up remains within five hours of notification, transport them to the designated medical examiner’s office, and return them to the family-selected funeral home or mortuary within 24 hours after autopsy completion, including post-autopsy repair as needed. Drivers must hold valid Arizona driver’s licenses and be legally employed by an entity authorized to transport human remains in Arizona; a licensed, certified mortician is preferred. The unit reported 42 autopsies requiring transportation in 2026 for planning purposes only, with no guaranteed future volume. Interested ISBEEs should provide an IHS Indian Economic Enterprise Representation form and a capability statement covering business details, UEI/SAM status, ISBEE status, relevant experience, licenses, ability to meet the five-hour and 24-hour requirements, geographic coverage/resources, and any subcontracting; pricing is not requested at this time.
