The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Art Robbins Instruments for a SOLO Magnetic Bead Station. The SOLO has a broad volume range of 500nl to 1000ul for the multi-tip heads, 500nL to 10mL for the single-tip heads, which allows for broad use in many of our planned workflows. It is compatible with 8 or 12 Channel pipette heads, allowing for differing sample volumes to meet current testing demands on the lab without wasting resources or requiring 96 samples to be run at once. The pipette heads can be changed seamlessly on the instrument without any tools to accommodate multiple protocols across various groups. The high-resolution motor that drives the SOLO’s pipette greatly increases its precision. The 20-200uL pipette will dispense as low as 2uL with an average CV below 2%, while larger volumes are dispensed with CVs under 0.5%. The SOLO instrument can be used for our lab’s needs and has established protocols and tutorial videos for serial dilutions, DNA extraction, DNA Normalization, and Next Generation Sequencing Preparation. This robot has a small footprint and will fit in our laboratory. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within five (5) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
