The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Life Technologies Corporation for custom TaqMan Array Cards (product ID 4485460- special gene-x, con4) quantity 600 EA. The TaqMan Array Cards (TAC) are the only commercial product that can be used for creating a custom panel of pathogen-specific assays in a microfluidic array that can be tested on existing real-time PCR systems in place in international partner laboratories supported by the Division of Bacterial Diseases and other programs within NCIRD. Ongoing customization of assays on TAC is required for specific surveillance activities, including design of new assays for new pathogens of interest (such as SARS-CoV-2) and continual improvement of real-time PCR assays for accuracy and sensitivity. Custom TAC is the only product that can be customized for inclusion of new and improved assays to address evolution of pathogens and available genome sequence data. These custom reagents are used for multi-pathogen testing of clinical specimens in various surveillance programs. This technology has been used by CDC for over 15 years, and evaluations of lab-created and clinical specimens have demonstrated that TAC has similar sensitivity and specificity to individual PCR reactions, but allows for higher throughput, reduced potential for contamination, lower cost, specimen conservation, and substantial improvement in ease of use for operator. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within four (4) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
