NIH/NCI intends to issue a sole-source purchase order to Carl Zeiss for a 12-month Protect Premium Service Agreement and Software Maintenance Agreement covering the Government-owned ZEISS LSM 900 / Axio Observer 7 confocal microscope system. The agreement requires one annual comprehensive preventative maintenance visit, unlimited on-site remedial repairs including labor, travel, and covered parts, ZEN software updates/upgrades, bug fixes, patches, and ongoing remote technical support with prioritized call handling. The justification is that Carl Zeiss is the OEM and sole supplier able to provide factory-trained service engineers and proprietary parts for the specialized system. The notice is not a request for competitive quotations, but interested parties may submit capability statements showing they can meet all requirements, and the Government will decide whether to proceed sole-source or compete. The Government anticipates making an award approximately five calendar days after the notice closes unless another responsible source is found capable.
