NIH/NIEHS intends to award a sole-source, firm-fixed-price purchase order to Lonza for 60 vials of spheroid-qualified cryopreserved primary human hepatocytes from male and female donors. The cells will support Complement-ARIE research by NCATS and NIEHS, including development and evaluation of human 3D microphysiological systems for toxicity-induced liver injury and progression toward fibrotic damage. Market research identified no other vendor capable of providing the required combination of spheroid-qualified hepatocytes, donor diversity, characterized/re-qualified cell lots, and compatibility with the established research approach. Delivery is required by September 25, 2026, to NIEHS, Rall Building 101, Laboratories E144-146, 111 T.W. Alexander Drive, Research Triangle Park, NC 27709. Although award is intended on a sole-source basis to Lonza, responsible sources may submit quotations demonstrating their ability to satisfy all scientific and technical requirements.
