NIH intends to issue a sole-source firm-fixed-price purchase order to Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. for a Bio-Rad QX200 Droplet Digital PCR (ddPCR) System. Bio-Rad is the sole manufacturer and provider of the QX200 system and its proprietary droplet-based digital PCR technology, which uses microfluidic droplet partitioning for absolute nucleic acid quantification. The notice states that no alternative commercially available system provides the required combination of capabilities, and it is not a request for competitive quotations. Responsible sources, including small businesses, may submit capability statements with sufficient documentation to demonstrate they can provide an equivalent system meeting the Government’s minimum technical requirements. Award is anticipated approximately five days after the notice closes if no acceptable capability statements are received.
