NIH’s mission is science in pursuit of fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge to extend healthy life and reduce the burdens of illness and disability. The CIT Identity Access and Management Services (IAM) provides essential services to that benefits and assists the NIH in achieving its mission. (1) provides necessary IT Infrastructure needed to support, plan and implement, and restructure information technology within NIH; (2) supports infrastructure directory services and user authentication using Active Directory, Single Sign On (SSO), Virtual Directory Services and provides account management capabilities to IT staff across NIH and HRSA; and (3) provides additional core infrastructure services such as PKI, PAM, and LDAP directory to ensure communication across the NIH is secure and available for all IT services. The CIT Identity and Access Management team needs to purchase the HSM Software, and Maintenance to maintain the existing DPKI infrastructure. Transitioning to a different HSM solution, even Thales, would require a re-key of the current online CA or deployment of a new online CA.
