The Cryo-EM Core requires a Direct Electron Detector to replace the Gatan K2 Summit installed on the Thermo Fisher Talos Arctica cryogenic electron microscope. The K2 is becoming obsolete after seven years of excellent service. The new detector should meet the capabilities of the K2, remain compatible with the microscope’s hardware and software as well as with the rest of the data collection and image processing pipelines. Expansion of abilities to include micro-electron diffraction studies on protein crystals is highly desirable. The DED must meet the criteria listed in the Statement of Need, which is attached to this synopsis/solicitation.
