The Neurodegenerative Diseases Research Unit (NDRU) shall perform comprehensive immune profiling in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from patients with neurodegenerative diseases and neurologically healthy, aged controls to develop biomarkers of neuroinflammation. NDRU requires the use of Chromium Single Cell Immune Profiling kits from 10x Genomics, which is a proprietory, multiomic assay that allows comprehensive immune profiling at single-cell resolution. This work will allow the investigation and identification of candidate biomarkers that may be indicative of disease-related changes that could inform how age and disease risk are affected by these proteins. Findings from this work will have direct impact on how patients can be stratified for future clinical trials and for use in assessing target engagement and to predict disease outcomes.
