Background: The acquisition of an x-ray irradiator would supplement our cesium irradiator which has several security protocols making it a challenge for some individuals to perform work. The x-ray irradiator would free up CMS staff since more users would be able to operate on their own due to less stringent security protocols in place. Having both an x-ray irradiator and cesium irradiator will allow for researchers to do comparison studies and determine if they could ultimately switch over to an x-ray irradiator for their experiments. The irradiator should have the ability to control dosage, target radiation to a specific part of a mouse, provide lethal and sub-lethal radiation, have an environmental chamber and programmable shelf and turntable.
