This notice is issued to help determine the availability of qualified companies technically capable of meeting the Government requirement and to determine the method of acquisition. Background: This request is for a digital slide scanner to support the research of mouse brain tissue images of differential gene expression studies in the scope of Early Onset Parkinson’s Disease Research, within the Lab of Neurogenetics. Purpose and Objectives: The National Institute on Aging (NIA), Laboratory of Neurogenetics, Molecular Neuropathology works to understand pathological basis of neurodegenerative diseases mainly in Parkinson’s disease. Immunohistochemistry slides, which contain mouse brain models of these diseases, are processed at a high volume. To capture the distribution of antibodies within various brain regions, a digital slide scanner is needed. The images from the digital slide scanner will be converted into high resolution data files. For this purpose, a high capacity, digital slide scanner is required to obtain these high resolution data files. The intent of this sources sought notice is to define the procurement strategy (e.g. set-aside, sole source, unrestricted) for a solicitation that is intended to be posted soon. Interested contractors are requested to respond by (1) identifying how their proposed product meets or exceeds the project requirements listed above; and (2) providing product literature, white papers, or capability statements that demonstrate their bona fide ability to supply such an item within the time frame described above.
