The purpose of this acquisition is to procure a 12-Month service agreement for Oxford Nanopore PromethION sequencing device. The NIH Intramural Sequencing Center (NISC) is a centralized research facility for performing high-throughput, large-scale DNA sequencing and sequence analysis. NISC has an Oxford Nanopore (ONT) PromethION, which is a benchtop system designed to run up to 48 independently addressable, high-capacity flow cells. Nanopore sequencing offers real-time analysis, direct analysis of the molecule of interest, and ultra-long reads. The PromethION produces a high volume of ultra-long reads, which are important for such projects as generating human genome assemblies with no gaps. Oxford Nanopore (ONT) PromethION sequencer is a vital component of scientific investigators sequencing production pipeline. It is imperative that the PromethION system be well maintained and operational so that NISC’s work can be completed in a timely fashion.
