The contractor shall supply two freezer mill systems for processing samples for the following types of analyses: food, feed, drugs, cosmetics, consumer complaints, and FERN samples for toxic metals, nutritional metals, and other elements at the San Francisco Laboratory (SANFL) Minimum Required Performance Specifications: The contractor shall provide two (2) Freezer Mills. The instruments shall meet or exceed the following requirements: The Freezer Mill must be a dual chamber grinder. The Freezer Mill must accommodate samples in the 0.1 gram to 200-gram range (100 gram per grinding chamber). The Freezer Mill cannot exceed 20 in. x 21.5 in x 25.5 in. The Freezer Mill must not be more than 80 lbs. The Freezer Mill must use 3-prong grounded plug 115V 60Hz The Freezer Mill must have a touch-screen programmable controls for grinding cycles, time, impact rate, pre-cooling and cooling time. The Freezer Mill must be able to store at least 20 grinding programs. The Freezer Mill must be maintenance-free design with only one moving part and with a self-contained liquid nitrogen tub and insulated case and with lid safety interlock switch for operator protection. The Freezer Mill must be an auto-fill system for automated filling of liquid nitrogen. The Freezer Mill must be equipped with liquid nitrogen level sensor. The Freezer Mill must be able to hold one large grinding vial (50ml capacity), one mid-size vial and four standard grinding vials per chamber. The samples must be submerged directly into the liquid nitrogen bath. Mid-size poly vial grinding set must include end plugs, center cylinder and impactor. It must have capacity to grind 3g to 25 g sample without metal contamination. End plugs and center cylinder must be polycarbonate and impactor shall be polycarbonate-encapsulated steel. The set must withstand liquid nitrogen temperature and shall be able to be cleaned with hot water and detergent. Large size vial grind set must include large stainless-steel impactor, large stainless steel end plugs and large polycarbonate center cylinders. Each set must have grinding sample capacity 1-50mL. Large extractor must be compatible with removing the end plugs from the center cylinders of large and mid size grinding vials. It shall have a lever to assist with extractor. Large vial extractor must be compatible with removing the end plugs from the center cylinders of large grinding vials. Mid-size vial adapter must be able to hold mid-size grinding set in the freezer mill Trade and Service Specifications Equipment shall be delivered with all necessary supplies and accessories required for installation and start-up including standards for verifying equipment performance FOB Point destination to include inside delivery and clean-up of area after installation. Equipment must be a newly manufactured unit, not used and refurbished or previously used for demonstration Equipment must be warrantied for parts and labor for at least 12 months from the date of installation. The vendor must also be capable of servicing the instrument through the covered warranty period and shall include at a minimum: coverage on all non-consumable items and parts including base instrument, factory-certified replacement parts, engineer labor and travel costs
