The Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), Office of Regulatory Science (ORS) own ten (10) each short read sequencing instruments (Illumina MiSeqs) that support FDA microbial genomics program. These instruments are required for bacterial foodborne pathogen genome sequencing, targeted gene sequencing, and amplicon sequencing of foodborne pathogens. These instruments need to be maintained in a manner that does not void the warranty provided by the manufacturing company (Illumina Inc.). The instruments also need to perform at optimum specifications to ensure that all data generated is consistent and meets industry-accepted quality standards for use in FDA regulatory research program.
