Broad Agency Announcement - Development and Demonstration of Mine Safety and Health Technology

Notice ID:75D30127Q79332

This opportunity aims to accelerate development, adaptation, evaluation, demonstration, and adoption of innovative technologies that improve mine worker safety and health across coal, metal, nonmetal, stone, sand, and gravel mining. NIOSH seeks applied research and technology-development efforts with a credible pathway to practical implementation in surface or underground mines. Priority areas include advancing prototype technologies toward mine-ready solutions, including permissibility modifications and mine-site demonstrations. Additional priorities are adapting technologies from other industries for mining, evaluating emerging technologies and implementation barriers, and facilitating adoption of mature safety and health technologies not yet widely implemented. It also supports analyses of emerging hazards, relevant safety/health data, and future technology needs to inform research priorities.
