Surveillance of severe influenza-associated encephalopathy and related complications in US children
This opportunity seeks a contractor to use an established pediatric surveillance network for active case finding and comprehensive data collection on critically ill children hospitalized with influenza-associated encephalopathy (IAE) in Pediatric Intensive Care Units (PICUs). The project involves abstracting electronic health records, collecting specimens, coordinating neuroimaging, and performing longitudinal neurologic follow-up to assess risk factors, disease course, and intervention impacts. Optional goals include evaluating neuroradiology, testing for pathogens and inflammatory markers, and assessing long-term neurodevelopmental outcomes. The location for performance is within PICUs of a multicenter network, and the government will consider responses received within 10 days of this notice. No specific budget amount is mentioned.
