Laboratory Mining Equipment
This acquisition provides specialized laboratory equipment to support the Pittsburgh Mining Research Division’s rock mechanics and ground-control research, ensuring consistent preparation and testing of geological specimens. It includes a complete rock-specimen cutting system, a computerized grinding machine, a creep test apparatus, and a triaxial testing machine for mine-site specimens. These systems will improve specimen quality and laboratory efficiency, reduce external testing costs and delays, and deliver mechanical data for modeling, pillar-design evaluations, roof-stability assessments, and databases for U.S. coal and stone mines. Delivery will be made to the Pittsburgh Mining Research Division facility within the established period of performance.
