Notice of Intent to Sole Source: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source purchase order to Care and Health Program. Justification of the capability required is provided on the sole source justification document. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1).. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE The purpose of this project is to provide logistical support to PRB to conduct a workshop covering methods for animal capture, handling, sample collection, and field biosafety, to conduct ecological investigations of potential MPXV reservoirs in wildlife, and to conduct molecular diagnostics on the collected animal samples. This will provide data on which types of animals are hosts for MPXV and which types of animals may be transmitting the virus to human populations. The project will take place for up to 4 years and fieldwork will occur in regions of the country where mpox cases have been reported. SCOPE OF WORK The contractor will conduct an ecology methods workshop and ecological investigations. The contractor will also work with PRB to conduct diagnostic testing on the collected samples. The contractor will generate and provide PRB with reports on the completion of the ecology workshop and ecological investigations, and quarterly reports for laboratory diagnostics.
