The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Giles Scientific Inc for BIOMIC V3 Microbiology System Instrument. BIOMIC V3 Microbiology System Instrument,” is an open system utilizing digital imaging to automate the reading and CLSI and EUCAST interpretation of clinical microbiology tests and QC from various manufacturers. Systems are customized with optional modules including antibiotic susceptibility, organism identification, 96-well microtiter*, and colony counting. BIOMIC V3 microbiology system reduces over 95% of the time involved in reading and calculating test results, eliminates human transcription errors, and minimizes reading variability. This provides more consistent, accurate, and reliable test results than manual reading and measurements. BIOMIC V3 provides an electronic record of test results and images. Test results can be transferred electronically to the lab’s LIS/LIMS. BIOMIC V3 is the best automated systems instrument for susceptibility testing that can be utilized as both a primary and secondary antibiotic susceptibility testing and identification (AST-ID) device. Other automated systems instruments for susceptibility testing were considered. No other offerors were identified at or below the dimensions of the BIOMIC V3 microbiology system instrument. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within 2 days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
