The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Centers for Surveillance, requires an award of a purchase order to the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMMS) for CDC’s participation in the 2020 HIMMS Interoperability Showcase being held during March 9-13, 2020, in Orland, Florida. Pursuant to, FAR 13.106(1) (b), Soliciting from a single source, (1) for purchases not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold, (i) Contracting officers may solicit from one source if the contracting officer determines that the circumstances of the contract action deem only one source reasonably available (e.g., urgency, exclusive licensing agreements, brand-name or industrial mobilization). The HIMMS Interoperability Showcase is held annually in conjunction with the annual HIMSS conference which brings together 40,000+ health IT professionals, clinicians, executives and vendors from around the world. HIMSS offers health IT educational sessions, Health IT leaders/speakers, cutting-edge health IT products and powerful networking opportunities for public health to engage with industry leaders. HIMSS offers more than 300 education programs featuring keynotes, thought leader sessions, roundtable discussions and workshops, plus a full day of preconference symposia. CDC programs participate each year in demonstrating the value of public health systems using health IT standards to effectively exchange and use data from health care information systems, e.g. EHRs. Since this is a HIMSS related activity, HIMSS is the only contractor that can provide this service. Therefore, award of a Firm-Fixed Price purchase order to is being contemplated in accordance with FAR Part 12 and in conjunction with FAR Part 13 with applicable Sub-Part.
