The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to LAB Rep Co for Biological Safety Cabinet (BSC) Enclosure for Tecan Fluent 1080. LAB Rep Co is the sole provider of Flow Sciences custom cabinets in Georgia. There is also another vendor for purchasing Flow Science cabinets but only those that are pre-built, ready-to-purchase cabinets not compatible with our Fluent 1080. The manufacturer, Flow Sciences, Inc., offers the only-fitted design to enclose the Tecan Fluent 1080 system within the designated CVDB laboratory space without requiring substantial building modifications. The program performed in-depth research to find the best fitted robotic BSC class II enclosure to house the Fluent 1080 system. CVDB laboratory space is limited, and there are concerns that building construction is required to accommodate a BSC class II enclosure. CVDB went through the necessary building assessment before acquiring the Fluent 1080 system. From that assessment, the AMSO project building manager and the building manager of Building 23 (Roybal) shared information on CDC laboratories with robotic enclosures for Tecan systems, including a design print from Flow Sciences, Inc. The managers also arranged a lab visit to the Immunology and Pathogenesis Branch (IPB) from the Influenza Division of NCIRD, located on the sixth floor of Building 23. Other vendors were considered but building construction would be required to accommodate their cabinet design. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1).. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within seven (7) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
