The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Illumina Inc for MS-102-3003 MiSeq Reagent Kit v3 (600 cycle). MiSeq V3 sequencing kit has been validated for performance characteristics for our whole genome sequencing workflow and specifications. Illumina’s MS-102-3003 MiSeq Reagent Kit v3 (600 cycle) is the only kit that can be used with MiSeq instrument and that meets the sequence quality and coverage for our needs. Other MiSeq kits such as v2 do not meet our sequencing requirements for a longer read based on the size of the bacterial genomes being studied. There are also to be best of our knowledge no other sequencing kits that are compatible with the Illumina Miseq instrument. This specific brand name MS-102-3003 MiSeq Reagent Kit v3 (600 cycle) kit manufactured by Illumina is required for our specific sequencing requirements. If other sequencing kits are available they are not supported on the Illumina Miseq instruments. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiatewith only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1).. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within 5 days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determinationby the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
