The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to VWR International, LLC for Fetal Bovine Serum, Premium Grade, Gamma Irradiated from VWR is the highest quality FBS available and is widely used by those cell culturists who have a concern for viral contaminants and require an extensive biochemical profile. Benefits of choosing VWR Serum are blood collection techniques, large lot sizes, “True Pool” processing, origin clearly stated and certified, traceability, supplier’s reputation, degree of vertical integrationuality of technical assistance, cGMP, clear, thorough documentation, verified by audit, quality of customer service, quality of technician training, ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 13485:2003 certifications, availability of Certificates of Suitability, adequate supply of serum, validated post-filtration processes. Due to the sensitive nature of developing tissue culture, program experience revealed that premium gamma irradiated FBS from VWR is best suited for our requirements. It has been tested and validated with all our cell culture lines. These biologicals are evaluated and validated for cell culture use, and use of any other products would require an extensive evaluation period that would cause delay in critical diagnostics and research. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all responses received within five (5) days of the issuance of this notice will be reviewed by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
