The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Clinical and Environmental Microbiology Branch, Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion, hereby announces its intent to issue a brand name source order/contract to BioSafe for the following products: Optima Centrifuge XE 90 IVD and rotor package SW 32TI. The NAICS code for this acquisition is 334516, Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing. The Centers for Diesase Control and Prevention is looking for a vendor who who carries an ultracentrifuge whose specifications will allow the laboratory to perform separations, including the preparation of highly purified, high-titer bacteriophage stocks for multiple downstream applications, including: whole genome sequencing (WGS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), phage enzyme extractions, and creating a bank of phage candidates available for single or cocktail preparations to be used against AR pathogens for phage therapy (clinical and environmental applications) as well as the development of new procedures with its innovative, intuitive software. The rotors need to be cross compatiable with the current Optima XE-90 machines already owned. The cross-compatibility of the rotors that the lab currently owns would provide additional functionality of current protocols, without the need to purchase additional rotors from a different manufacturer. The Optima XE-90 provides user-friendly software and a large touch-screen display that is easy to operate and is compatible with a large portfolio of rotors and labware to meet the labs present and future needs. Although this unit is not the only ultracentrifuge currently on the market that could meet the labs needs, it does have an ideal size/dimension profile for the current lab space in addition to being compatible with the current rotor inventory. Since the labs current biological separations require centrifugation speeds that are achieved by the ultracentrifuge in the request, the inability to acquire such equipment would prevent the lab from completing the crucial task of purification of bacteriophages which is needed before downstream applications such as phage therapy and biocontrol applications can be achieved. This action is for supplies which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit quotations. This is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will review any/all product, capabilities, and pricing information submitted prior to the closure of this notice. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
