The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to VWR International, LLC for the purchase of the Heraeus Megafuge 40 and 40R General Purpose Centrifuges. There is an urgent need for the centrifuge for the concentration of large volumes (~500 mL), in addition to the concentration of coronavirus in hand rinse samples using Centricon centrifugal filtration units. This model of centrifuge is necessary because it is compatible with the 500 mL bottles that are provided by CDC’s Division of Scientific Resources for sample analyzation. The COVID-19 outbreak is currently an emergency response. The Environmental lab team is designing a new laboratory specifically for the processing of sewage samples that may contain SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. The program will use sewage samples collected across the United States to estimate the level of COVID-19 spread within a community by relative concentrations of SARS-CoV-2 in sewage. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTATIONS; however, all responses received within four (4) days of the issuance of this notice will be reviewed by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
