Specialized Blood Products-AABB
The NIH Clinical Center’s Department of Transfusion Medicine/Transfusion Services Laboratory intends to award a sole-source IDIQ contract to the National Blood Exchange (NBE)/AABB for specialized blood products, including rare and multiple-antigen-negative red blood cells, AB plasma, cryoprecipitate, and single-donor/HLA-typed platelets, to support patient care at the NIH Clinical Center. The anticipated contract has a 12-month base period, with individual requirements ordered and funded through orders. Estimated annual needs are about 300–400 antigen-negative leukoreduced RBCs, 50–100 units of Fresh Frozen AB plasma, and 100–200 units of single-donor platelets. The contractor must provide FDA-licensed, AABB/CAP/CLIA-compliant products; nationwide access to multiple blood centers; 24/7 support; and electronic ordering/tracking. Although the Government intends this as sole-source based on market research identifying NBE as the only capable source, responsible firms may submit capability statements showing they can meet the full requirement.
