No solicitation will be issued, and quotations will not be accepted. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a firm-fixed-price sole source contract to: Covidien Sales LLC 15 Hampshire Street Mansfield, Massachusetts 02048 The NIH Department of Perioperative Medicine seeks to acquire five (5) Valleylab FT10 Electrosurgical Generators to: Replace aging ERBE units currently in use Support Da Vinci Robotic Surgery as backup in case of ERBE failure Enable additional surgical procedures requiring a second Bovie unit Replace older Force FX units that have reached end-of-life and are due for CERC replacement The department currently has 7 FT10 units deployed, but additional units are required to meet increasing procedural demands and to ensure readiness in case of ERBE unit malfunctions. The Valleylab FT10 generator includes proprietary TissueFect™ technology, which monitors tissue impedance 434,000 times per second to deliver optimized energy during surgery. This technology is exclusive to Valleylab generators and critical for: Driving all electrosurgical and advanced bipolar functions Supporting the department’s existing Ligasure handpieces, which are only compatible with the FT10 platform As the sole manufacturer and provider of this device, Covidien Sales LLC is the only source capable of fulfilling the requirement. Required Item Qty 5 – Catalog #VLFT10FXGEN: Valleylab FT10 Electrosurgical Generator Authority This acquisition is being conducted in accordance with FAR Part 13 – Simplified Acquisition Procedures, specifically Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1), which permits sole source awards when only one source is reasonably available. As such, competition requirements under FAR Part 6 do not apply.
